POSITION SUMMARY The Associate Media Director is responsible for all aspects of their assigned client’s media campaigns and will set the strategic tone for their accounts. The AMD is also responsible for managing planners and buyers– developing their skills, evaluating their performance, and managing their growth. It is expected that the AMD will participate in new business pitches and other areas of importance at the department and agency level.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES This role requires a foundation in traditional media planning/buying and at least 5 years of digital media strategy and implementation. The candidate should have strong client presentation and management skills – she/he should be able to build mid-level client relationships and oversee day-to-day projects to ensure that deliverables are met. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing innovative, sophisticated media strategies and campaigns that deliver against the client’s goals
  • Demonstrating client management and selling skills to advocate and influence in support of the agency and direction
  • Identifying and pitching new business
  • Thinking creatively to apply new technologies and platforms to drive client objectives
  • Developing and refining internal digital processes to ensure efficiency and peak performance
  • Oversee that the Media Planners are effectively negotiating media costs, positioning, and added value packages on behalf of clients
  • Ensuring media deliverables are met on time and within budget and align with client goals/objectives
  • Overseeing program results analysis and help translate information into observations/lessons learned
  • Contributing thought leadership content to promote Gatesman’s voice in the industry.
  • Managing, developing and hiring talent


  • Extensive experience in media planning and buying (including all channels and pricing models)
  • Passion for technology, with wide-ranging knowledge of the ad tech ecosystem – DSP, DMP, SSP
  • Understand addressability & targeting and how these can be applied in all digital platforms
  • Comprehension of creative best practices across digital – video, banners, paid social
  • Proven ability in successful campaign implementation (third party ad serving and tracking, measurement, billing reconciliation)
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including an analytic and fact-based approach to problem-solving
  • Strong writing, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in all MS Office programs and media research tools and resources
  • 7-10 years of media experience, with at least 5 years of digital experience
  • Paid search experience a plus
